Carlost Mortensen was born in Ecuador and currently maintains dual citizenship after living for years in Spain. He played in his first World Series of Poker in 1999, on a complete freeroll. He was backed by fellow poker players from Madrid who believed in his abilities at the poker table. Carlos is known to be an extremely aggressive player with a tremendous talent for reading other players at the table. Carlos' claim to fame came at the 2001 World Series where he came from nowhere to win $1.5 million and the World Series main event.
