Chris began playing poker with his childhood friends. During his college years, he would often compete for play money on IRC and take road trips to Las Vegas. Chris is a top professional poker player, both a mathematician and computer scientist with a photographic memory. In 1994, he decided to concentrate solely on the tournament circuit in Southern California, utilizing his strong background in game theory. Because of his background he generally approaches poker purely intellectual, rather than relying on his feelings or emotions. Chris played in his first World Series main event in 1996 after winning a seat in a satellite. He has not missed one since. Chris won his first World Series bracelet in 2000 after winning the seven-card stud event. Later on that month, he would take home the title in the main event and become the 2000 World Series of Poker champion. Chris has a lot of respect for the players on the professional circuit especially the likes of Erik Seidel, Dan Harrington, Mike Sexton, and Daniel Negreanu. Chris' ambition in life is to become a professor of game theory at a major university.
