David began working for Nguyen's cleaning business, which was opened after some of his early successes. David, like many of Nguyen's workers, David would eventually take poker lessons from him and would later become an active participant on the tournament circuit. In 2001, David earned his first World Series of Poker bracelet for his first place finish in the mixed game S.H.O.E. event. In the past four years David has compiled 14 first place finishes at major poker tournaments, and that puts him right at the top for highest number of wins in tournament poker. David was given the nickname "The Dragon" because he is always putting heat on his opponents at the poker table.
