Doyle Brunson

Birthdate: October 8, 1933
Birthplace: Longworth, Texas
Current Residence: Las Vegas, Nevada
Nickname: Texas Dolly

Doyle started playing poker in college at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. Doyle was a superb athlete and was drafted to play for the Minnesota Lakers before a knee injury ended his dream of playing professional basketball. For years, he traveled around his home state of Texas with other professional poker players, such as Amarillo Slim Preston and his mentor Johnny Moss. After finding it difficult to find games to play in Texas, Doyle moved his family to Las Vegas. Today, he is not only known for his skills at playing tournament poker, but also for his skills at playing high-stake games. These are two very different types of poker not only to play but also to be successful at. Doyle is widely known as the best poker player of all time. Doyle has the all-time record for most WSOP bracelets with nine (tying him with Phil Hellmuth and Johnny Chan). Doyle is also the author of "Super System" which is considered the premier poker book ever published. He has most recently released an updated version of this book with "Super System 2". Doyle is considered the Grandmaster of Poker.
