Erick grew up in Northern California, where he developed his competitive instinct at an early age. He was MVP of his league as a shooting guard in basketball and an all league quarterback. These competitive instincts have helped him hone his poker skills into a world class player. His interest in gambling peaked at an early age as he got involved with Indian Casino as a blackjack dealer and learned the poker trade once his shifts were completed. Twenty-seven years old and single, Erick now makes his home in Las Vegas. Erick made his mark on the professional scene with his win at the Party Poker Million III, where he took home the top prize of one million dollars. Since 2002 he has won three major tournaments and is off to a fast start in 2005 with one win and four final table appearances in his first five starts. Erick considers his toughest opponents to be Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and Gus Hansen because of their knowledge of the game and their aggressive style of play.
