During the days Greg was an attorney, and he was a poker player by night. Greg would play in numerous local charity games throughout Chicago. Raymer first came onto the poker scene nationally in 2000 when he finished third in the World Poker Finals. He then kind of disappeared for a bit until 2004 came around. Greg would constantly play poker online which helped improve his game tremendously. He eventually won a $160 buy-in satellite shootout that awarded him a seat to enter the World Series of Poker. Greg put on an impressive performance with his win in the main event and the "Fossilman" was born into the poker world spotlight. Greg is a professional Biotechnology patent attorney, an avid fossil collector (hence the nickname "fossilman") and he uses those fossils as card protectors. Greg left his job as a lawyer after winning last years World Series of Poker to focus on his new business opportunities that are awarded to being the World Champion. Greg is a tremendous poker player that is always in contention for major titles. Greg is not a one hit wonder he will be around for quite some time.
