Jan was a professional soccer player for twelve years before suffering a career ending knee injury. He learned how to play poker while traveling on the road in between soccer matches. Soon after his injury, he made his first trip to Las Vegas. During his visit the World Series of Poker was going on and he got very intrigued by the entire experience. At this time he was unaware that he would be sitting at a final table, playing for the title and the bracelet a decade later. Jan was successful at this year's World Series as he won the $5,000 Seven-Card Stud event.
