Johnny Chan is one of poker's most well known player's. He just added to his legendary status in the poker world by just winning his tenth World Series of Poker bracelet, breaking the mark of nine that he shared with fellow poker legends Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth. Johnny became a household name and an instant legend back in 1987 when he won the first of his back-to-back World Series of Poker Championships (1987 and 1988). Johnny gained additional fame when he made an appearance in the poker film, Rounders (he played himself of course). Johnny's life story all began when he moved with his family from Hong Kong to Phoenix in 1968. The family later moved to Houston where his family owned some restaurants. It was expected that Johnny would continue in the family business, but when he was introduced to the game of poker it took him on a different path of life. He started playing poker in the early 80's and he hasn't looked back since. Johnny is known for keeping an orange in front of him at all times during tournaments. Some say it is for luck, but Johnny says he just likes the smell of it. Johnny has become quite the businessman as well, he owns a fast-food restaurant in the Las Vegas Stratosphere Hotel and he also does some consulting work for casinos and game makers. Johnny is no doubt one of the best all around players in the game today and of all time.
