Noel began playing poker in 1984, and he made his first trip to the World Series of Poker in 1989 and he finished in sixth place in the main event. Ten years later Furlong's biggest win would come in the 1999 World Series of Poker main event. Furlong owns a carpet distribution company that does over $100 million worth of business a year. Due to his involvements with his carpet business he does not play poker all that frequently, he usually enters the World Series of Poker and some tournaments throughout Ireland and Western Europe. He is also an avid horse trainer on the side as well.
