Darden's ultra cool hip hop style has made him a favorite with World Poker Tour viewers. Darden learned to play poker as a child in the back room of his father's pool hall. During a trip to Atlantic City, Paul met Phil Ivey. Darden eventually entered a tournament and began making a name for himself as a stud player. Then at the urging of Phil Ivey, who is Darden's coach, he learned to play no limit hold'em. In addition to playing poker professionally, he is also a music promoter and a former night club owner in his hometown of New Haven, Connecticut. Darden is featured as one of the World Poker Tour's "Bad Boys of Poker".
