Sam came to the United States in 1977 when a Civil War broke out in Lebanon. He settled in Kansas and ended up graduating from Friends University in Kansas with a degree in Business Administration. Once he graduated, Sam moved to Houston to work with his brother. Sam was introduced to the game of poker a year after he moved to Houston. In 1990, Sam quit his job to focus on playing poker full time. Farha is best known to the national audience for his heads-up battle against Chris Moneymaker in the 2003 World Series of Poker. Sammy ended up earning $1.3 Million for his work at the tables in that event. Sam is a holder of one World Series bracelet (1996 WSOP $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha). Nowadays, Sam tends to play a lot of Omaha cash games. Farha is working on a poker book, tentatively titled "Luck is not enough", a reality TV poker series, and a video poker game. He is also the spokesperson for Harrah's Casino in Vegas.
