The Result

This hand occurred with seven players still remaining at the final table. Bobby Baldwin was holding onto the 9Clubs9Hearts and Green was holding onto the QClubsQDiamonds. These two are going heads-up. The flop comes with the 9Spades4Hearts3Clubs, which gives Baldwin the set and Perry Green has the overpair to the board. Baldwin is first to act and he checks his set. Green on the other hand comes in with a $40,000 bet. Baldwin quickly came over the top and put Green all-in if he wanted to. Green debated for awhile and he eventually would make the call. Both players then flipped up their cards for everyone to see and right away Green knew that in order for him to stay in the tourney he had to hit on one of his two outs. The turn came with the JHearts and now it was down to one card. The river card was turned over and Green got it, the miracle QSpades. With the amount of chips that Perry Green got from this hand he was able to last until it was time to play Stu Ungar heads-up for the championship.

analysis

Luck played a major role in this hand as Perry Green had a 4.5% chance of winning this hand on the river and his chances to remain alive in the tournament. On the other hand, one of the best players at the table took a huge hit on his stack and was eliminated shortly after this hand was completed.
