The Result

Now its crunch time and it's the final hand of the 1981 World Series of Poker. Stu Ungar was to act first and he decided to raise with his AHeartsQHearts. It was up to Green now who was holding the 10Spades9Diamonds and he decided to call. The flop would bring 8Hearts7Diamonds4Hearts; the flop gives Stuey two overcards and the nut flush draw. Meanwhile Perry had flopped the nut straight draw and he had two overcards to the board. The play was to Green and he busted out an all-in and Stuey quickly called. The turn card came and it was the 4Spades which left Ungar as a pretty good favorite to win the hand, but Green could easily pick up one of his cards. The river came out as the QDiamonds and Stu Ungar has become the World Series of Poker Champion, and he netted a cool $375,000 for his efforts.

analysis

Each of these players played this hand tremendously as it could have gone either way. It was an exciting finish to a great tournament.
