The Result

The 91 WSOP Main Event wrapped up with this final hand. Don Holt was on the button and he decided to limp in with the 7Hearts3Hearts. Brad Daugherty was holding the KSpadesJSpades and he put forth a $75,000 raise. Holt decided to call and see the flop. The flop came with 8Diamonds9HeartsJClubs. Daugherty received top pair and Holt had a gut-shot draw and a three-flush. Daugherty was first to act and he checked and Holt went all-in for $450,000. Daugherty called quickly as he had the chip lead and it was an opportunity to win it all. The turn came up and it was the 5Clubs, which gave Holt eight outs in total. Then the 8Spades hit on the river and Brad Daugherty became the champion.

analysis

Holt's first mistake in this hand was when he called the $75,000 raise pre-flop. His next blunder was moving all-in on the flop when he had a drawing hand. Daugherty most likely would have bet the turn if Holt had of checked and then Holt could have moved all-in. This would have presented Daugherty with a much tougher decision. Holt could have won the hand with his all-in bet, but Daugherty made a tremendous call with only having a pair of Jacks.
