Chris Moneymaker   Sam Farha
Five of Diamonds Four of Spades VS Jack of Hearts Ten of Diamonds
The Flop The Turn The River
Jack of Spades Five of Spades Four of Clubs Eight of Diamonds Five of Hearts

The Result

At this point in the heads-up competition the Moneymaker had the chip lead with his stack being valued at $6,600,000 and Sammy Farha had $1,800,000. Sam had the JHearts10Diamonds and with his first move he raised to $100,000 from the small blind. Moneymaker had the 5Diamonds4Spades and he called. The flop came and it produced the JSpades5Spades4Clubs, which gave Farha top pair and Moneymaker had bottom two pair. Moneymaker was first to act and he checked. Farha decided to bet $175,000. Moneymaker then proceeded to check-raise $275,000 and Sammy held nothing back by moving all-in. Moneymaker called him. Chris' two pair would hold up and it even became a full house on the river. Chris Moneymaker was the champion.

analysis

Moneymaker looked like the veteran during this hand as he trapped Farha for all his chips. The small check-raise that Moneymaker came up with made Farha make a decision on whether or not his hand was best or not. The check-raise was a perfect size bet as it was too small for Farha to lay down and if he had of just called, Chris would have put him all-in on the turn.
