lesson 21: pot limit omaha
Alright guys, in this lesson we are going to discuss what Pot Limit Omaha is all about. Pot Limit Omaha is a game that takes great skill, smooth bluffing techniques, and mathematical prowess to be successful. If you make a couple of good reads in this game it will often make the difference between you winning a big pot or losing a big pot.
Pot Limit Omaha is dealt just like the previous games of Omaha, with all the players receiving four cards facedown to start off the action. Also, remember that in Omaha, in order for your hand to be complete you must use two cards from your four pocket cards and exactly three of the cards from the community. The betting structure is different in Pot Limit because at any given time you have the ability to bet the size of the pot during any of the four betting rounds. This betting structure will give you an opportunity to play for huge pots, and hopefully take some of them home. One pot has the ability to make or break your entire evening at the poker tables.
In order to protect your hand in Pot Limit you should make pot-sized bets when you have a real strong hand and force your opponents into laying down their hand. The idea of Pot Limit is to put all of your money into the pot (at least what the limits will allow you to put in) when you are a huge favorite to win the pot. The ideal strategy in Pot Limit poker is for you to put up a small amount of money when you are holding the worst hand and large amounts of money when you have the best hand.
When you play Pot Limit Omaha, remember to start playing only with the strong hands, and bet the full amount possible when you have a strong hand or a strong draw, make sure to use your math skills to help with your decisions on whether you should call when you are trying to make a drawing hand. You also do not want to forget to throw your opponents off guard by bluffing on occasion so that your game play is not too predictable. Pot Limit Omaha is a game in which you want to make the best possible hand and take your opponents for everything you can.
Alright guys, that's a wrap for this lesson. We hope that this lesson has helped you understand Pot Limit Omaha, and it has given you some insight on how to play. We'll see you guys all soon.
good luck and enjoy your experiences at the poker tables
